Five Actions You Should Take to Enjoy a Profitable E-Commerce Mobile Site

Mobiles are getting more and more important in e-commerce. Due to their impressive improvement in power and features, people are using them more than ever to navigate through the Internet and frequently make purchases. Not long ago, every company had a nice website to visit from a desktop or laptop and a not-so-nice app for visits from mobiles. Now many webmasters have discovered that an app involves a lot of effort in updates, and time solving user problems, so many of them have opted for having a great website that is also mobile-optimized. 1.Have a mobile friendly design

There are many websites that look exactly the same in mobile and on the computer. The only difference is that in mobile you can zoom. This means two main characteristics, the page should load quickly and users shouldn’t need to struggle with small views.

2.Test it regularly

Yeah they look great in the desktop version, they are engaging, attract attention and make users interact, but they usually don’t work properly in mobile devices. This also applies to plugins using Flash, some using Java, and other features that for sure look great in the main website. The best option you have here is to ask your programmer for them to appear in the desktop version, but not in the mobile one. If this is not possible, remove them, you have more to lose than to win.

4.Adapt the design to human hands.

Take into consideration that in mobile we use our fingers to navigate. The consequence is that there are people with really big fingers using the same website as people with very small ones. In addition, some of these people with big fingers have mobiles with small screens. Do not let your website be a nightmare for them. Buttons, especially the ones with the important call to actions such as log in, buy and contact, have to be big enough to be tapped by a big finger. So do not put your buttons too close to each other – leave an empty space in between.

5.Put the most important first.

Last but not least, understand that while in navigating in mobile, users are likely multitasking. If you are on the computer, you are likely focusing in the screen, but on a mobile you can be watching TV, chatting with friends or on the go commuting to work. So in mobile everything has to be easier to avoid distractions. Take a look at your Google analytics data and put your best-selling products and products with more searches on the homepage. Also adapt the navigation menus of the website to the mobile reality, and make them shorter and order them by importance or interest, also following the analytic data.
